Colgate University Senior launches LateDate, a mobile application that helps users find dates to different events

HAMILTON, NY (11/13/2013)(readMedia)-- As an Economics major who is also pursuing Spanish and president of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Katherine Rydell still applied to the Thought Into Action (TIA) program on a whim with an idea she was excited about, but not sure if it could become a reality.

Together with a friend, Amara Wilson '14, the two are working on creating a mobile application called LateDate. LateDate will help users find dates to many different types of events. Before TIA, the concept was utilized in lists passed around her sorority, where girls could recommend dates for formal and semi-formal events. Now, with the overwhelming support and help from mentors, LateDate is being designed and developed into a mobile application. It has grown from being used solely in Kappa Kappa Gamma into an app that will help users find dates to a myriad of events, from high school proms to private parties.TIA is a community of people wanting to see their dreams develop into a reality, and through this program I'm able to build LateDate into a functional mobile application.

Thought into Action Entrepreneurship Institute is a Colgate University incubator for student ventures. Every year a select group of pioneering students prove what it really means to be an entrepreneur by taking an idea and making it 'go live'. In TIA, passionate students take their own ideas and move from theory to practice, while guided by invaluable mentorship of entrepreneurial alumni and parents.

Colgate University is a highly selective residential liberal arts institution distinguished by the dedication of its faculty, and its commitment to global engagements, student faculty research, off-campus study, sustainable practices, and utilizing technology to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
