Westfield Funeral Director S.Scott Mason, CFSP Elected Secretary/Treasurer

BALLSTON SPA, NY (08/23/2007)(readMedia)-- Albany, NY -- August 23 -- S. Scott Mason, CFSP owner of the Mason Funeral Home in Westfield, was elected secretary/treasurer of the New York State Funeral Directors Association (NYSFDA) at the organization’s annual meeting which concluded yesterday in Saratoga Springs, New York. A New York State licensed funeral director since 1991, and in Pennsylvania since 1984, Mason will serve for the 2007-2008 term.

Mason is a NYSFDA Executive Committee and Board member. He is also Chairman of the Funeral Directors Support Services (FDSS) Budget and Finance Committee as well asn a member of the NYSFDA Audit Committee, member of the Constitution and By Laws Committee and a member of the Government Affairs Action Team. Formerly a vice president of the Chautauqua County Funeral Directors Association, he serves as Chairman of the SUNY Canton Mortuary Science Advisory Board.

Active in many civic affairs, he is an active member of the Westfield Village Fire Department, where he just finished a term as Assistant Fire Chief, former Chairman of the Westfield United Fund, and a member of the Westfield Mayville Rotary Club where he was honored in 2005 with the Paul Harris Fellow award. When time permits, Mason enjoys golf and skiing.

Mason is a graduate of SUNY Canton with an Associates of Applied Science degree in Mortuary Science; also attended Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania where he studied Psychology and Sociology.

Scott and his wife Debbie, reside at the Funeral Home with their daughters, Amanda, a sophomore attending SUNY Oswego and Katie, a junior in High School.

Founded in 1889, NYSFDA’s mission is to promote the highest standards of funeral service to the public and to enhance the environment in which its members operate. More than 800 member firms and 3000 licensed funeral directors who operate across the state belong to the New York State Funeral Directors Association. In addition to maintaining a Website at www.nysfda.org, NYSFDA also publishes a quarterly newspaper column “Transitions” and brochures which educate and inform consumers about end-of-life issues.
