What Heroin Sounds Like: An Immersive Experience

We invite you to attend our What Heroin Sounds Like Colloquium exhibit.

ANNVILLE, PA (04/05/2018) The exhibit, is a student-driven project dedicated to exposing the heroin health crisis to the local community. The purpose is to engage community members through a combination of art and storytelling to give a voice to people without a sounding board. As a community, we must take responsibility for raising awareness and ending the stigma surrounding opioid addiction. This concern is not something a person can carry alone; together we possess the power to create change.

A group of Lebanon Valley College digital communications students developed an immersive experience to bring awareness to the heroin epidemic that has swept the nation by storm. Located near Lebanon, which has been devastated by this epidemic, many of our students, faculty, staff, and community members have been personally impacted. As concerned citizens, we feel the need to raise awareness using our specialized skills as technologically advanced students.

Because we created an experience meant to garner strong emotional reactions, we understand that the audience may need to debrief and unpack their thoughts and feelings. Therefore, we will have debriefing sessions following the exhibit.

Please join us in creating a better understanding of the health crisis and the ways in which it has impacted our community. We hope to reach a wide audience with our exhibit, so we encourage you to extend this invitation to your network and beyond.
