Wheaton College (Ill.) Aston Francis named CCIW men's basketball "Fred Young Most Outstanding Player"

Senior guard Aston Francis was honored as a unanimous First Team selection for the third-consecutive year and was chosen by the league's coaches as the recipient of the "Fred Young Most Outstanding Player" award for the second-straight season.

Francis is averaging 32.4 points per game this season, leading Division III and all NCAA levels. He has broken his own school record for three-pointers in a single-season with 127 treys and leads Division III with an average of 5.08 three-pointers per game. The Thunder guard has a team-high average of 7.6 rebounds per game and is second on the team with 3.32 assists per game

Francis posted outstanding numbers in 16 CCIW games this season. He averaged 32.0 points per game, with 8.0 rebounds per game and 2.9 assists per game. Francis' 512 points in CCIW play is the second-highest single-season scoring total in conference history, behind the 568 points scored by Millikin's Leon Gobczynski in 1975. Francis led the CCIW in scoring (32.0 PPG); three-pointers (5.25 3PPG) and defensive rebounds (6.56 DRPG) this season. He finished the conference schedule second in the conference in rebounds (8.0 RPG), third in free throw percentage (89.3%), seventh in steals (1.13 SPG) and 10th in assists (2.94 APG).
