Wheaton College (Ill.) Aston Francis selected as CCIW Player of the Week for men's basketball

Aston Francis was named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week in men's basketball by the conference office.

Francis has won the award eight other times this season (Jan. 28, Jan. 21, Jan. 14, Jan. 7, Dec. 17, Dec. 10, Nov. 26 and Nov. 19). Francis averaged 42.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in Wheaton's two contests last week. He shot 50.8% (30-of-59) from the field, including 48.6% (17-of-35) from three-point range. Francis contributed five assists and five steals in Wheaton's two games. The senior helped lead Wheaton to dramatic and important 82-71 victory at No. 13 North Central on Saturday. Wheaton lost at fourth-ranked Augustana, 93-83 last Wednesday.

Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level.
