Wheaton College (Ill.) Aston Francis was named CCIW Player of the Week in men's basketball

Senior guard Aston Francis was named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week in men's basketball by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Francis averaged 23.5 points per game last week, helping lead Wheaton to a victory at eighth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan last Wednesday and Saturday at home against Olivet. The senior averaged 7.5 assists per game and 6.5 rebounds per game in a balanced week of work.

Francis scored the game-winning three-pointer as time expired in Wheaton's 90-88 victory at eighth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan last Wednesday, handing the Titans their first loss of the season. He scored 27 points, and tied his season-high with seven three-pointers, in the Thunder victory at IWU. He also distributed a season-high eight assists against the Titans. He tied for the game high in scoring with 20 points in Saturday's 92-81 victory against Olivet. He also contributed nine rebounds, seven assists and two blocked shots in a tremendous all-around effort against the Comets.

Francis leads NCAA Division III in scoring with an average of 29.9 points per game. He is second in the country in made field goals (88) and total points scored (269), also ranking fourth in Division III in three-pointers per game (4.67 3PGM) and three-pointers made (42).
