Wheaton College (Ill.) Jacob Panjwani named CCIW Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Thunder freshman Jacob Panjwani was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Tennis Player of the Week by the conference office.

In his first collegiate action last weekend, Panjwani helped lead the Thunder to a 5-4 win against the University of St. Francis (Ill.) in the season opener on Friday evening. The match tied was tied 4-4 when Panjwani won a third set tiebreaker over Miguel Rayos (5-7, 6-4, 10-8) at No. 3 singles to secure the team victory against the Saints. Additionally, Panjwani and teammate Jack Guenther won their No. 3 doubles match over Fernando Turiel and Thomas Schieffer (8-6).

Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. The Thunder Athletics program has won five NCAA Division III Championships since 1984, and Wheaton student-athletes have won 31 Division III individual National Championships all-time.
