Wheaton College (Ill.) Leif Van Grinsven earns All-Midwest Region honors from the USTFCCCA

Leif Van Grinsven, a member of the Wheaton men's track & field team, earned All-Midwest Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this week.

Van Grinsven earned All-Region recognition in the heptathlon for the third-consecutive year. His 2019 Windy City Rumble effort of 5,139 points ranked third in the Midwest Region this year. In addition to earning him All-Region honors, the effort was a new Wheaton school record in the indoor heptathlon.

Van Grinsven also represented the Thunder at the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships in Boston, Mass. earlier this month.

Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. The Thunder Athletics program has won five NCAA Division III Championships since 1984, and Wheaton student-athletes have won 31 Division III individual National Championships all-time.
