Wheaton's Rutledge named CCIW Women's Swimmer of the Week

Wheaton sophomore Abigail Rutledge was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday.

A native of Cary, North Carolina and Panther Creek High School, Rutledge won two events during the Thunder's dual meeet against Calvin on Saturday as she clocked in-season bests in both races. She edged out Calvin's Robyn Ellens by only 0.10 to win the 500-yard freestyle in 5:27.06. Rutledge was also a winner in the 200-yard buttlerfly with a time of 2:14.92, which is now the top time in the CCIW by five seconds.
