Whistling Whizzes Win State Fair Honors

DES MOINES, IA (08/19/2018) (readMedia)-- Contestants of all ages competed for top whistling honors Thursday at the 2018 Iowa State Fair.

Stephanie Hoch of Des Moines won first place in the Adult competition. Kent Abbott of Des Moines earned second place and Susan Folkerts of West Des Moines claimed third place.

In the Youth contest, Renee Hartung of Preston won first place. Ryan Hosek of Traer took second place and Haylie Moore of Montezuma earned third place.

The contest was part of "Rural Americana Olde Tyme Competitions" in Farm Bureau Pioneer Hall. A first prize of $5 and ribbons were awarded to each class.
