Wig and Buckle "Beneath the Surface" Theme for 2014-2015 Season

ANNVILLE, PA (09/22/2014)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College's student-run theater organization, Wig and Buckle Theater Company, has an exciting series of plays and a musical scheduled for the 2014-2015 "Beneath the Surface" season.

The season begins with Rupert Holmes' musical "Curtains," Oct. 24 to Nov. 2, under the direction of senior music and music education major Aileen Koch '15 of Franklin, N.J. A special play is being performed this year, the "Fifth Annual Wig and Buckle Showcase," which is coordinated by sophomore music major Rachel Hogan '17 of Annapolis, Md. Two plays, Arthur Miller's "All My Sons" under direction of senior music and music recording technology major Matt Hollenberg '15 of York, Pa. and Moliere's "Tartuffe" under the direction of junior English major Lacey Eriksen '16 of Newark, Del. will be held in the spring.

In "Curtains," an unlikable leading lady is murdered during her opening night curtain call. Frank Cioffi, a police detective and musical theater fan, must solve the mystery and save the show. "All My Sons" focuses on the story of a businessman who once narrowly avoided financial ruin by shipping cracked machine parts to the military. He blames his business partner and builds an empire, but eventually his crime comes back to haunt him. "Tartuffe" tells the story of an irreclaimable hypocritical man set out to destroy the domestic happiness of a citizen who, charmed by his seeming piety, has received him as a prominent guest.

"'Beneath the Surface' is a season of delving deeper than what lies on the surface," stated Wig and Buckle president Shannon Kane '16 of Sunbury, Pa. "As the season progresses, audiences will be delighted to find deeper meanings and hidden agendas within each show that will lead to a jaw dropping, show stopping night."

Wig and Buckle's Season Selection Committee works during the year reading plays and developing proposed season line-ups. Then, in the spring, they present their proposals to the entire Company, who votes on the season that they feel is best for the Company and the campus at large.
