Wilkes University Students Conduct Interdisciplinary Summer Research

Wilkes University students are conducting interdisciplinary research this summer with Del Lucent, associate professor of physics. The research students are learning about mathematics, computer science, physics, and biochemistry related to the protein folding research project. Their day-to-day tasks involve writing computer programs and optimizing data analysis workflows. They are also learning how to perform computer simulations of protein folding using molecular dynamics simulation packages.

During summer 2018, more than 150 undergraduate students at Wilkes University are engaged in research. Working with faculty on meaningful research is one of the hallmarks of a Wilkes education. Students at Wilkes have all of the educational opportunities of a large university in the mentoring culture of a small college.
