Wilkes University and Neumann University Announce Agreement for Pre-Pharmacy Students

Wilkes University and Neumann University, Aston, Pa., are partnering on an articulation agreement for students pursuing a doctor of pharmacy degree. Under the new agreement, academically qualified students who complete Neumann's pre-pharmacy program can apply to the Wilkes Nesbitt School of Pharmacy through a streamlined process and be granted an admission interview.

Anne Skleder, Wilkes provost and senior vice president, and Lawrence DiPaolo, Jr., vice president for academic affairs at Neumann, will formally sign the agreement at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 23 in Weckesser Hall, 170 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre.

Scott Stolte, dean of the Wilkes Nesbitt School of Pharmacy, and Alfred Mueller, II, dean of arts and sciences at Neumann, will also be in attendance.

"We are delighted to partner with Neumann University who, like Wilkes, is known for coupling small class sizes with extraordinary opportunity," said University President Patrick F. Leahy. "This benefits Wilkes in two ways: it allows us to welcome talented Neumann students into our pharmacy program while extending our footprint into southeastern Pennsylvania."

Founded in 1996, the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy is the region's only school of pharmacy. The school awards the doctor of pharmacy degree, or Pharm. D., the primary, entry-level pharmacy practice degree in the United States. Under the agreement, students will spend two years at Neumann and complete four years of pharmacy school at Wilkes.
