PADUCAH, KY (05/18/2018) John D. Williams of Paducah was named to serve as chair of the Board of Trustees of Paducah Junior College (PJC), Inc., for the third and last consecutive year, at the board's May 17th meeting. PJC is the foundation for West Kentucky Community and Technical College.

Williams, retired general manager of WPSD-TV and past chair of the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce, was first named to the board in 2002 and has served as chair a total of five different times. PJC members can serve as chair no more than three consecutive years.

"It means a lot to me to be a part of this board and to see the students, who might not have been able to go to college if not for the existence of WKCTC. To see those students be successful, graduate and walk across the stage each year, is a wonderful part of being on this board," Williams said. "I'm certainly proud of all the work this college does for our community but especially in terms of economic development."

In addition to Williams, others elected as officers of the 16-member board were Anne Gwinn, vice chair; Ann Denton, secretary; Lorraine Schramke, treasurer; and Mike Sims, at large. Their term of office will begin July 1, 2018 and continue through June 30, 2019.

The mission of this board is to provide resources for the improvement and enhancement of educational opportunities in support of the mission and vision of WKCTC. The PJC Board of Trustees is composed of 15 members appointed on a rotating basis by the Mayor of Paducah and the Judge Executive of McCracken County. Voting members include these appointees as well as the current president of the college. The Mayor and the Judge Executive serve as Ex-Officio members.
