Wine Makers Awarded Prizes in Iowa State Fair Contest

DES MOINES, IA (08/09/2014)(readMedia)-- Wine makers vied for titles in the wine portion of the Amateur Oenology competition judged prior to the start of the 2014 Iowa State Fair.

Shawn Wilkins of Plymouth received Best of Show honors in the Grape Wine division with a Homegrown Sweet Red Grape wine. Matthew Kraus of Nauvoo, Ill., won Best of Show in the Non-Grape Wine division with a Sweet Raspberry wine.

Forty-three exhibitors with 155 wines competed in 18 categories.
