Woodbury Highway Speed E-ZPass Toll Reconstruction to Necessitate Toll Lane Closures and Traffic Stoppages
Northbound, Southbound Traffic to be Stopped Briefly
The New York State Thruway Authority today announced the installation of various overhead sign structures approaching the Woodbury Toll Barrier will necessitate nightly traffic stops during the week of January 19, 2010. This work is being conducted as part of the on going Woodbury Highway Speed E-ZPass project.
Weather and traffic conditions permitting, stoppages will take place the in the northbound direction on Tuesday, January 19, between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. Additionally, traffic stoppages will take place in the southbound direction on Wednesday, January 20 through Friday, January 22, between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m.
The traffic stoppages are expected to last approximately 15 minutes each. During the stops all traffic traveling northbound or southbound approaching the Woodbury Toll Plaza will be stopped as the overhead sign structures are lifted, set over the support towers and secured. Signs will be installed from three miles south of to three miles north of the Woodbury Toll Barrier.
The Authority will activate Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 530 AM and 1610 AM in order to advise motorists of the closure.
The Authority appreciates motorists' patience and understanding while this essential work takes place.
