Woodbury Highway Speed E-ZPass Toll Reconstruction to Necessitate Toll Lane Closures and Traffic Stoppages

Southbound Traffic to be Stopped Briefly

ALBANY, NY (01/22/2010)(readMedia)--

The New York State Thruway Authority today announced the installation of various overhead sign structures approaching the Woodbury Toll Barrier will necessitate nightly traffic stops during the week of January 25, 2010. This work is being conducted as part of the ongoing Woodbury Highway Speed E-ZPass project.

Weather and traffic conditions permitting, stoppages will take place in the southbound direction on Monday, January 25 through Wednesday, January 27, between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m.

The traffic stoppages are expected to last approximately 15 minutes each. During the stops all traffic traveling southbound approaching the Woodbury Toll Plaza will be stopped as the overhead sign structures are lifted, set over the support towers and secured. Signs will be installed from two miles south of to three miles north of the Woodbury Toll Barrier.

The Authority will activate Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 530 AM and 1610 AM in order to advise motorists of the traffic stops.

The Authority appreciates motorists' patience and understanding while this essential work takes place.
