Workshop to help executives lead in the digital age

Family business leaders need frameworks for making decision about Internet strategies

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA (01/11/2012)(readMedia)-- Research has shown that many senior executives in family businesses aren't confident leading the digital aspects of their companies. However, family enterprises serious about survival in the 21st century need to exploit new opportunities via digital channels.

There's help for family business leaders unclear about how to use the wealth of Internet and digital tools available. Whether just getting started with the Internet or a dabbler for a few years, executives can elevate their digital savvy with a workshop called "Leading in Digital: Key Insights for Smart Executives." The accelerated training session will be provided by the S. Dale High Center at Elizabethtown College in conjunction with YDOP, their digital strategies corporate partner based in Manheim. The event will be held on Thursday, February 23, in the Hoover Building on the Elizabethtown College campus, from 8:30 to 11 a.m.

YDOP Principal Steve Wolgemuth believes the Internet can enhance any company's business strategies and be a key component to realizing their strategic objectives, including new market customer development; B2B client retention; cost savings/operational efficiencies; employee hiring and training; internal communications; brand development; and enhancing a company's reputation.

This executive workshop led by Wolgemuth and YDOP's Social Media Strategist Daniel Klotz can help leaders gain confidence in leading digital initiatives in numerous ways. Participants will develop a better understanding of online performance metrics that every business needs to know about and track; what it means to own your brand online and why it is important; and why having no digital strategy is expensive and unwise.

Prior to the session, attendees will be asked to complete a short questionnaire to determine their Online/Digital Media Quotient and identify some key needs.

Workshop fees are $100 per participant for High Center members and $200 per participant for non-members. Program content will be tailored to meet the needs of family business executives and leaders of closely-held firms. Registration is required.

To register or for more information call the High Center at 717-361-1275 or email FBC@etown.edu.
