STAUNTON, VA (04/26/2010)(readMedia)-- What is World Laughter Day?
World Laughter Day grew out of the practice known as Laughter Yoga, a practice developed by an Indian physician, Dr. Madan Kitaria. The idea behind World Laughter Day is for people around the globe to gather together the first Sunday in May and unite in peace through laughter. For the past two years, Shanti Yoga and Staunton Recreation & Parks have been pleased to co-sponsor this event and plan to have the 3rd World Laughter Day celebration on May 2, 2010 from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. in Gypsy Hill Park. Laughter Yoga... This is not your typical yoga - No physical poses required.
Grebo the Magician will be on hand entertaining children with his strolling magic act. The Recreation Department will get kids moving with their "Rec Your Life" equipment. Suzie Oberg will make paper flowers with children. Children and Adults can learn how to improve your physical and emotional health while lowering the stress levels in your life. The practice of Laughter Yoga is good for any age group, physical condition, and can be utilized in all areas of life, personal or professional. This practice helps you to reconnect with the child within you and teaches you how to turn everyday stressors into opportunities to laugh.
