MORRISTOWN, NJ (11/18/2010)(readMedia)-- Jill Mortimer of Wyckoff, N.J., has successfully defended her doctoral dissertation entitled, "Elements of Secondary School Redesign in a High Achieving High School District," at the College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE) in Morristown, 2 Convent Road, Morristown, N.J. on November 3, 2010. Mortimer, who will receive an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from CSE in December 2010, is the K-12 regional supervisor of curriculum and instruction for Allendale, Ho-Ho-Kus, Upper Saddle River, and Northern Highlands school districts. She is also a member of the Wyckoff Board of Education.

"Earning my doctorate has been a life-changing experience," says Mortimer. "I found that even in mid-career, there are still lessons to learn and skills to hone. The program at Saint Elizabeth's is wonderful and very beneficial to those of us in education."

The doctoral program in educational leadership, which began in August 2007, is a three-year program dedicated to the principles of servant leadership – a belief that leaders must serve and embrace the needs and talents of their employees. "Integrated into all course work and learning activities are the central values and beliefs necessary for school leaders to function as morally purposeful stewards for their school communities," said Dr. John Crews, Ed.D., CSE associate director of graduate education. "This philosophy represents a major shift from the traditional paradigm of school leaders as managers of resources which is so prevalent in today's practices."

Sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, New Jersey, the College of Saint Elizabeth enrolls approximately 2,100 full and part-time students in 27 undergraduate programs, nine graduate degree programs, and one doctoral program.
