YSU senior awarded grant to study abroad

Youngstown State University senior Elizabeth Urig of Canfield, Ohio, has been awarded a $1,000 grant from the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi to study abroad in Budapest, Hungary.

Urig, an applied mathematics and mechanical engineering major, is one of only 50 students nationwide to receive the award. She will be studying advanced mathematics in Budapest for the Fall 2017 semester through the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics program.

Selection is based on an applicant's academic achievement, campus and community service, relation of travel to academic preparation and career goals, a personal statement, letters of recommendation, and acceptance into a study abroad program.
