Yin Repeats as MIAA Athlete of the Week

Sammy Yin of Ada, Michigan, a member of the Trine University men's tennis team, earned his second-straight Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week on Sept 18.

It was the second time both this season and in his career that Yin was named Athlete of the Week.

The freshman headlined competition at the 2023 Hope College Invite where he won the Men's A-Draw Individual tournament. After receiving a bye in the first round he won his first match against Calvin's Harrison Sindelar by the score of 8-1. In the quarterfinal round he took on a second member of the Knights and won 6-2, 6-0.

In the semifinals he defeated the host school's Rylan Doden with scores of 6-4, 6-0. Then in the championship he defeated Jospeph Llopis 6-4 in the first set before the opposition retired due to injury in the second set.
