Young Cooks Claim State Fair Crowns

DES MOINES, IA (08/21/2018) (readMedia)-- Young cooks from across the state squared off in 42 different divisions of competition in the Casey's Junior Favorite Creations competition judged Friday, August 10, at the 2018 Iowa State Fair.

Allison Olson of Urbandale won First Place Overall and a $100 gift card.

Helen Hutchison of Des Moines earned Second Place Overall and Brooklynn Sedlock of Indianola claimed Third Place Overall.

There was a tie in the Sweepstakes with Addison Spencer of Cedar Falls taking home the Sweepstakes award while Reagan Sunvold of Cedar Falls, Grant Spencer of Stanton and Ashlyn Derr of Clive tied for the Reserve Sweepstakes award.

Entries were judged on taste, texture, appearance and creativity.
