Young Cooks Win State Fair Honors

DES MOINES, IA (08/16/2022) (readMedia)-- Young cooks from across the state put their best creations to the test in the Kids Fun Food competition judged Friday, August 12, at the 2022 Iowa State Fair.

Kennedy Cain of Des Moines won first place and a $25 cash award.

Kinnick Cain of Des Moines earned second place and $15. Zoe Praska of West Des Moines claimed third place and $10.

Contestants were tasked to make a favorite food to share with family and friends.

Entries were judged on taste and appearance.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 128 divisions, 615 classes and nearly 6,300 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Urban Air Adventure Park.
