Registration and packet pick-up on race day is from 4 - 5:45 p.m., in front of USC Aiken's Starbucks. The race will begin in front of the Student Activity Center (SAC) at 6pm.
Each runner will wear a flag football belt that zombies will try to pull. When a flag from the belt is pulled, the zombie throws it to the ground, and the runner must stop and fasten it back around their waist. Zombies are not allowed to physically touch anyone.
The top three male and female runners will be given zombie medals. In addition to timed awards given to runners, prizes will be awarded for the best zombie costumes.
The third annual USC Aiken Zombie Run is an Aiken After Dark event presented by Healthy 4 Life Peer Educators.
"Healthy 4 Life is USC Aiken's model for health and well-being on campus," said Mila L. Padgett, director, Campus Recreation & Wellness.
"Programs and services are provided to promote a positive atmosphere for the community to live, learn, work and play."
Padgett says the Zombie Run is a part of USC Aiken's Fall Fest and is a fun way to promote being active and getting outside.
The Healthy 4 Life Peer Educators present Aiken After Dark events throughout the year. They are alcohol-free activities which occur during the weekend, giving university students a healthy entertainment alternative.
