ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (01/23/2012)(readMedia)-- Flagler College radio station WFCF 88.5 FM will begin streaming online via iHeartRadio, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment's free, industry-leading digital radio service beginning later this month.
"Everyone at WFCF is elated to be a part of the new iHeartRadio. The station was founded by Flagler College as an experiential learning opportunity for communication majors," said WFCF Station Manager Dan McCook. "Additionally, our unique programming is a local community resource. Integration into the Clear Channel Media and Entertainment family will help cement the station's educational mission and assist Radio with a Reason in becoming part of the international broadcasting community."
At launch, WFCF will join a list of more than a dozen of the leading college stations from eleven states across the country - with additional college radio stations to be added in the coming months. iHeartRadio users and college radio fans can tune in to some of the country's most highly-recognized and listened to college radio stations, including Appalachian State's WASU, DePaul University's Radio DePaul, Ithaca College's WICB, Rice University's Rice Radio, Seton Hall University's WSOU, Stanford University's KZSU and Temple University's WHIP.
The New iHeartRadio offers more than 800 broadcast radio and commercial-free digital-only stations from 150 cities, plus the ability to create custom radio stations.
"Bringing college radio stations to iHeartRadio is a great source of local and independent programming that offers our users a more diverse listening experience and also provides listeners new opportunities for music, news and sports exposure and discovery," said John Hogan, President and CEO, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment. "Many of our top on-air personalities started their radio careers at college radio stations and we are glad to give back by providing these great college stations with an industry-leading national distribution platform."
iHeartRadio is a free broadcast radio app on the iPhone and Android. WFCF is a non-commercial, educational radio station staffed by students in the Flagler College Communication Department and community volunteers. The station operates from 7 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.
WFCF also streams online at radio.flagler.edu.
