WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY (07/18/2008; 1353)(readMedia)-- The Friends of the 106th Rescue Wing will hold a Family Day for New York Air National Guard members and their families, and invited community members, at the 106th Rescue Wing's Francis S. Gabreski Airport base at Westhampton Beach Saturday Junly 19 from 11 a.m. Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the event.
| WHO: | More then 1,000 military me mbers, military family members and community mem bers will attend the event. Members of the wing have been urged to invite their civilian employers as a way to say thank you for supporting their service in the New York Air National Guard. |
| WHAT: | Guests will be treated to food, get a chance to inspect the HH-60 Pavehawk and C-130 airplanes the wing operates and enjoy the music of Dixieland Band, Community Band, and The Bay Brass |

| NOTES: | The 106th Rescue Wing, the oldest unit in the Air National Guard, is celebrating its 100th birthday this year. The wing specializes in the rescue of downed pilots during wartime and rescues mariners in trouble during peacetime. The Friends of the 106th is dedicated to "Serve Those Who Serve Us". The annual family day is a way for local residents to thank the members of the Air National Guard. Media members must contact Lt. Col.
