“Adirondack Rock” Authors to Appear at SUNY Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, NY (04/24/2008; 1149)(readMedia)-- Authors Jim Lawyer and Jeremy Haas will appear on campus at SUNY Plattsburgh, to talk about rock climbing, show slides of local expeditions, preview a video and sign books on Thursday, May 1 in the Champlain Valley Hall Lounge.

The two have written “Adirondack Rock” a new rock climbing guidebook for the Adirondack region. The book includes many extras over previous guidebooks.

“For Adirondack region climbers this is a big event,” said Dr. Larry Soroka, director of the Adirondack Experience and chair of Expeditionary Studies at SUNY Plattsburgh. “The publication of this new guidebook adds over 1,000 new routes to the previous guidebook. Updated and sophisticated, it is a significant resource of climbing history and activity.”

The schedule for their visit on May 1 is as follows:

• 6:00-7:30 p.m. – book signing.
• 7:30-8 p.m. – slideshow and video presentation.
• 8-9 p.m. – book signing.

Sponsored by The Department of Expeditionary Studies, the event is free and open to the public. Books are available for purchase at the College Bookstore and will be available for sale at the event.
