New York’s Largest Union backs candidates in historic election for Ulster County
KINGSTON, NY (07/21/2008; 1244)(readMedia)-- CSEA today endorsed County Administrator Mike Hein for Ulster County Executive and James Quigley for County Controller.
The vote to endorse them was unanimous by the union’s county and region political action committees.
In accepting the endorsement, County Administrator Hein said: "I am very proud of the hard-working men and women of Ulster County. I look forward to serving the 183,000 people of Ulster County efficiently and effectively, shoulder to shoulder. CSEA’s endorsement means the hard work we have done together at reforming County government will continue."
Jim Quigley responded “I look forward to bringing 21 professional and business years back to the voters of Ulster County to benefit all of the residents of Ulster County.”
Ulster County CSEA President Terry Gilbert explained, "As the President of the Ulster County CSEA, I am proud to announce on behalf of myself and the hard working members of CSEA that we have voted unanimously to endorse Mike Hein as County Executive. I have been working with Mike Hein and he has proven himself to be a man of integrity and a man that can steer Ulster in the right direction. This is a historic time for our County and I am pleased Mike Hein recognizes the best resource of this county, its dedicated workforce.
“We also have endorsed James Quigley for County Comptroller,” Gilbert continued. “Mr. Quigley’s financial credentials speak for themselves and we at CSEA believe he will be a wonderful asset to the financial integrity of Ulster County.”
Ulster County CSEA Political Action Chair Troy Ashdown stated; "We, CSEA, believe Mike Hein will best serve the interests of working families throughout Ulster County. As our current Administrator, Mike Hein has worked hard to help CSEA members, their families, and the residents of Ulster County. Also, we are proud to endorse Jim Quigley as his unique professional experience will undoubtedly allow him to be an excellent fiscal watchdog of Ulster County.”
CSEA Region President Billy Riccaldo noted: “We are ready to roll up our sleeves and work as hard as we can for these two excellent candidates.”
CSEA has 65,000 members in the Hudson Valley including 4,000 who work and live in Ulster County.
