BATAVIA, NY (07/21/2008; 1356)(readMedia)-- Christmas will be coming to Genesee Community College early this year. Students in the Performing Arts Experience at Genesee, the college's summer theatre workshop for area youth, will present Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, an adaptation by Maryanne Arena, on Friday, July 25 at 7:00 pm and Saturday, July 26 at 2:00 pm. A Dress Rehearsal Media Hour is scheduled for Wednesday, July 23 at 2:00 pm.
This year's Performing Arts Experience at Genesee has attracted 36 youth ages 7-15 from all across Western New York. They have spent several weeks with the musical director and choreographer and have now begun full rehearsals. Participants in the production this year include the following (returning students from last summer's workshop are indicted with an asterisk):
