Undeclared Eggs in Cheesecake “Baby Cakes”

ALBANY, NY (04/24/2008; 1310)(readMedia)-- New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker alerted consumers today that D’Aaiuto Pastry Shop Inc, 405 8th Avenue, New York, NY 10001 is recalling all varieties of New York New York Cheesecake “Baby Cakes” due to undeclared eggs. People who have allergies to eggs may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

The New York New York Cheesecake “Baby Cakes” are sold in uncoded 4 oz. plastic packages. The product was sold nationwide.

The problem was discovered during a routine inspection by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors, which revealed the presence of eggs in product packages that did not declare an egg ingredient on the label.

No illnesses have been reported to date to this Department in connection with the recall. Consumers who have purchased New York New York Cheesecake “Baby Cakes” should return them to the place of purchase.
