30 NY Wineries, 10 NY Food Companies to Participate in International Shows This Weekend
ALBANY, NY (03/05/2008; 1046)(readMedia)-- New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, in partnership with the New York Wine & Grape Foundation, is assisting 30 New York wineries and 10 New York food companies exhibit their products to domestic and international buyers at two upcoming trade shows at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. The 1st Annual New York Wine Expo will take place March 7 through 9, and the International Restaurant and Food Service Show of New York will run March 9 through 11.
“It’s an exciting opportunity for our New York wineries and food companies to showcase their local products to thousands of international and domestic buyers, so close to home,” New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker said. “Both of these trade shows will provide our companies with excellent exposure to a large and diverse audience and the chance to entice buyers with a taste of what New Yorkers call local.”
Jim Trezise, President of the New York Wine & Grape Foundation, said, “We’re so excited to take part in the first New York Wine Expo. Wineries from across the State will be presenting their wines on the world wide stage, and we enjoy working with the Department on events as such that draw attention and recognition to our diverse industry.”
The Department and the New York Wine & Grape Foundation organized New York pavilions at both shows at a reduced cost for exhibitors wishing to participate. In addition, the Department is providing logistic and marketing assistance to exhibiting companies and is also promoting the Pride of New York, the State’s marketing and promotion program that generates interest and demand for New York food and agricultural products.
Martha Macinski of Standing Stone Vineyards said, “Standing Stone has participated in numerous New York State sponsored pavilions in the past and would not have been able to afford to attend these highly visible and successful trade and consumer shows without the help and assistance of the Department and its staff. The location they provide is superior, putting our winery in front of almost 40,000 people in the past month alone. More importantly, New York wines are placed shoulder to shoulder with the most recognized wines in the world, helping us gain exposure and traction on the world’s stage.”
The New York Wine Expo is a brand new show to New York City and will feature over 150 wineries and sample over 600 wines from around the world. The Expo will provide a unique opportunity for buyers to experience a comprehensive variety of New York wines under one roof. Each winery is able to pour five wines. The following wineries will be participating in the New York Wine Expo as part of the State pavilion:
The International Restaurant and Food Service Show is the largest, most comprehensive food service event in the Northeast. The Show will host more than 600 food companies, 100 new food items and expects over 18,000 industry buyers and professionals. The following New York food companies will be participating at the International Restaurant and Food Service Show as part of the Department’s organized pavilion, called the Pride of New York MarketPlace:
