Dopp Must Testify

ALBANY, NY (10/23/2007; 1457)(readMedia)-- Darren Dopp’s refusal to swear in and tell the truth under oath is a tremendous disappointment to all New Yorkers. This stunning development comes after Mr. Dopp repeatedly said he would fully cooperate and testify under oath.

The fact that nearly eighty percent of New Yorkers believe that Governor Spitzer’s administration must tell the truth about the “Troopergate” scandal should send a very clear message, yet Governor Spitzer and his staff continue to avoid public scrutiny on this issue.

They need to testify under oath in order to restore the public's faith and enable government to return to the needs of New York's families and businesses: tax cuts, job creation, safer streets, affordable health care and quality education. Instead, the Spitzer administration continues to stonewall on "Troopergate" and maintain its stubborn insistence on providing driver's licenses to illegal aliens.

The public is clearly demanding action from Governor Spitzer’s administration, but they are not listening. It is time for Governor Spitzer, Mr. Dopp and the other members of his administration to step forward and do the right thing, so we can move on to the real issues that are important to New Yorkers.
