GENEVA, NY (02/11/2008; 1151)(readMedia)-- The Geneva Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Electrical Industry, Local 840, will conduct recruitment from February 13, 2008 through January 14, 2009 for 10 electrician apprentices, State Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith announced today.
Applications can be obtained in person at the local, 1401 Routes 5 and 20, Geneva, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., on the second Wednesday of each month during the recruitment period

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
