Elementary School Students at The Albany Academies to Deliver Handmade Valentines to Beverwyck

Students to deliver handmade items on Valentine's Day to spread holiday cheer

ALBANY, NY (02/12/2008; 1028)(readMedia)-- Lower School students from The Albany Academies will deliver handmade valentines to residents of Beverwyck retirement home this Thursday, February 14 using the Western Turnpike Rescue Squad's ambulance to help spread holiday cheer on Valentine's Day.

Please note for media purposes that the ambulance containing the Academies students will be arriving at Beverwyck, located at 40 Autumn Drive in Slingerlands, at 11:15 a.m.

Academies students from age 3 to 4th grade have been making the valentines – which will also be going to the Albany County Nursing Home – in class during the past two weeks in preparation of the delivery to Beverwyck.

The project is being spearheaded by Academies East Campus Second Grade Teacher Bridget McGivern.

The Albany Academies is home to the two campuses of The Albany Academy (West Campus) and Albany Academy for Girls (East Campus), which share a nearly 200-year-old tradition of outstanding, single-gender independent school education. Both campuses bring with them deeply treasured values of community, tradition and purpose to the newly formed school known as The Albany Academies.
