Motorists Should Seek Alternate Route
ALBANY, NY (09/08/2007; 0748)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority announces that the scheduled deck replacement work on the Tappan Zee Bridge is being extended by approximately one hour causing severe northbound delays.
Motorists traveling northbound in the area are advised to seek an alternate route if possible.
Currently northbound traffic is reduced to one lane. The other three lanes will reopen to traffic as soon as conditions permit.
Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) have been activated to inform motorists of these delays.
This project is part of the Authority’s on-going commitment to continue to fulfill its responsibility to maintain and operate the bridge by continuing to make the necessary investments to assure safe and efficient travel for the thousands of motorists that cross the bridge daily.
The Authority appreciates motorists' patience during this time.
