Group to Hold Vigil at Kings County Hospital

SURVIVORS OF PSYCHIATRIC ATROCITIES AND ALLIES TO SPEAK OUT AND HOLD A VIGIL IN HONOR OF EMSIN GREEN WHO WAS MURDERED-BY-NEGLECT AT THE KINGS COUNTY HOSPITAL CENTER PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY ROOM.

STERLING, NY (07/25/2008; 1139)(readMedia)-- WE THE PEOPLE started as a united front of survivors of psychiatric atrocities to condemn human rights violations. Unlike Ms. Green, we survived with our lives. However, our liberty, our health, and our futures continue to be under the threat of the therapeutic state - and so are yours.

We implore you, meet with us, work with us towards creating a humane environment. We must establish alternatives to the atrocities of confinement, drugs, electroshock treatment, restraint, seclusion and aversive “behavioral interventions”. We let our light shine in remembrance of the victims of the mental illness system - for people who have suffered due to fear and bad science - for people have been traumatized - for people who have been disabled - for people who are dead - for people who are not really living but have been robbed of a “full and meaningful life”.

On July 25, 2008, we invite all people to join us and stand united in support of the demand that everyone receive the full benefits of their human rights and the preservation of their liberty, dignity, and respect. Vigils are taking place in at least three nations for Ms. Green to stand in solidarity with New Yorkers.

ACTION:

Call Governor Paterson (518) 474-8390, Mayor Bloomberg, 311 in NYC or (212) NEW-YORK, and your elected Representatives to insist that the City of New York stand in full compliance with International law and Human Rights.

Why: WE THE PEOPLE call for an end of abuse, torture, and neglect in the wake of Ms. Green's death, while detained at the Kings County Hospital Center Psychiatric Emergency Room.
