Children for Children to Host Family Fun’raiser at Blue Smoke

NEW YORK, NY (12/06/2007; 0900)(readMedia)-- Children for Children (CFC), a not-for-profit organization, is holding its second Grow Involved for the Holidays Family Fun’raiser event at Blue Smoke & Jazz Standard on Sunday, December 9 from 11 a.m to1:30 p.m. Guests will participate in hands-on service projects, such as scarf making and care kit decorating, to donate to community organizations, all while serving and sharing in a festive holiday barbecue.

“The Family Fun’raiser is a terrific holiday event that brings together the greater New York City community to partake in a festive service fair” said Maggie Jones, executive director of Children for Children. “It is a wonderful event that represents the true meaning of the holiday season.”

“As part of the New York City community, we are honored to be included in this event that celebrates the work that Children for Children does every day on behalf of families” says Mark Maynard-Parisi of Blue Smoke & Jazz Standard.

Children for Children’s 2007 Fun'raiser partners - New York City public, private and parochial schools, community groups such as Generation Engage and The New York City Department of Homeless Services, and Blue Smoke & Jazz Standard among many other generous friends - have come together to stage this festive all-family event.

The Family Fun’raiser is a reflection of CFC’s mission to expose young people to the powerful benefits of service and volunteering. Youth and adult volunteers will help serve up award winning southern barbecue and work with children on a variety of hands-on service projects. In addition, guests will enjoy live music performances by the Jazz Standard Youth Orchestra and Louie & Subanda. There is no charge for admissions but RSVP is required.

Founded in 1996, Children for Children® promotes hands-on youth volunteering and giving programs that teach and instill the value of community involvement and civic engagement in children from all backgrounds, beginning at a young age. CFC works with over 52,000 children each year through special events, school-based and online service programs.

CFC’s Family Fun’raiser Sunday, December 9, 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Blue Smoke & Jazz Standard, 116 East 27th Street, New York, NY 10017.
