Insurance Department To Do Consumer Outreach At Fairs

ALBANY, NY (08/07/2007; 1315)(readMedia)-- New York State Insurance Department consumer services specialists will staff information booths at the Erie County Fair, to be held Aug. 8-19 in Hamburg, NY and the New York State Fair in Syracuse, NY, which starts on Aug. 23 and continues through Sept. 3.

At these two fairs, New Yorkers will get an opportunity to ask questions about, and receive consumer guides on, automobile, health, homeowners’ and life insurance, as well as Healthy NY, the state’s reduced-cost health insurance program for the working uninsured and small businesses.

"Educated consumers make wise insurance choices, and the Insurance Departments wants to help make all New Yorkers educated insurance consumers," Insurance Superintendent Eric R. Dinallo said. "These two fairs are a great New York summer tradition and draw tens of thousands. We hope many of those traveling to Hamburg and Syracuse in the coming weeks take a few moments to stop by the Insurance Department’s booth and take advantage of the information and advice the Insurance Department has to offer."

The Department’s Consumer Services Bureau specialists may be found at the Erie County Fair, 5600 McKinley Parkway, Hamburg, NY, situated in the International Agri-Center building. At the State Fair, 581 State Fair Blvd., Syracuse, Department personnel will be based in the Verizon Center of Progress Building.
