BUFFALO, NY (07/16/2007; 1502)(readMedia)-- The Ironworkers Joint Apprenticeship Committee, Local 6, will conduct recruitment from August 6, 2007 through February 4, 2008 for 10 apprentices, State Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith announced today.
Applications will be available at the Ironworkers Hall, 196 Orchard Park Road, Buffalo, from 9 a.m. to noon, the first Monday of each month. Applications must be completed on the premises or by calling 716-875-4744.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
