New York State Announces Next Open Space Conservation Plan Meeting

ALBANY, NY (04/14/2008; 1641)(readMedia)-- The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) will be convening the next Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) meeting in the state’s open space conservation planning process. The meeting will be held in the 2nd floor Art Gallery of the Adam Clayton Powell State Office Building, located at 163 West 125th Street on Tuesday, April 15, at 1 p.m. RAC meetings are open to the public.

Through the Open Space Conservation Plan, DEC, in partnership with OPRHP, seeks to create a land acquisition plan to guide the State’s open space conservation efforts. The plan combines an objective analysis of the State’s resources with the invaluable ideas of the general public, local government, and the private sector. In addition, the RAC helps to establish goals for the future and considers the region’s open space conservation priorities.
