MEDIA ADVISORY

Media Invited To Hear Pulitzer Prize-winning Reporter David Cay Johnston Address CSEA Activists at Desmond Hotel Feb. 22 at 6 p.m.

ALBANY, NY (02/21/2008; 0917)(readMedia)-- Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter David Cay Johnston will speak to CSEA activists gathered in Albany for Federal Political Action Liaison training on Friday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Desmond Hotel. The session will be open to the media.

Johnston is best known for his work investigating the United States tax system. His reporting, which revealed, among other things, that Enron did not pay taxes and that some companies use a Bermuda mail box to escape American taxes, has shut down a number of tax dodges and led to new tax laws and increased enforcement. He is also the author of a number of books, including his latest, “Free Lunch, How the Wealthiest Americans Enrich Themselves at Government Expense (And Stick You With The Bill).

CSEA’s federal Political Action Liaisons (PALs) are the union’s liaison to congressional representatives. CSEA has a federal PAL in every congressional district in the state and their job is to lobby federal lawmakers on issues of importance to the union.
