ALBANY, NY (02/20/2008; 1213)(readMedia)-- The New York State Department of Labor will hold a Rapid Response Information Session on Thursday, February 21 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. at the Watervliet Elks Club, 501 4th Avenue, Watervliet for workers who were laid off from Tech Valley Printing.
“We want the former employees of Tech Valley Printing to know that we are available to assist them,” said Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith. “We have the resources to help them find a new job, and to answer any questions they may have regarding wage and labor laws.”
Representatives from the Labor Department’s Divisions of Employment Services and Labor Standards, the US Department of Labor, and Capital Region Workforce Investment Board partners will be on hand to offer assistance with the following: unemployment insurance, re-employment assistance, employee benefits, labor market information, resume writing and interviewing techniques. A representative from the Workforce Development Institute will be on hand to discuss services such as job training and access to child care subsidies. Information will also be available on health care coverage and credit management.
Former Tech Valley Printing employees who are unable to attend the session should call the Albany One-Stop Career Center at 462-7600, extension 156.
