Media Advisory - NYSDEC Releases Results of Staten Island Deer Survey

Growing Population Presents Special Challenges in Affected Communities

ALBANY, NY (05/01/2008; 1557)(readMedia)-- In response to an increasing population of deer in Staten Island, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s (NYSDEC) Suzanne Mattei, Director of Region 2 (New York City), will hold a press conference at the Staten Island Greenbelt Nature Center from 9:30 – 10:30 am, Friday, May 2, 2008 to release the results of a preliminary study of the situation.

Joined by local elected officials and community leaders, NYSDEC staff will distribute copies of the study, entitled the Richmond County Deer Survey, discuss the methodology used, and present the recommendations it contains.
