New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony

ALBANY, NY (10/05/2007; 1442)(readMedia)-- The 2007 New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, October 9th, 10 a.m., at the New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial site at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, N.Y.

Governor Eliot Spitzer and other dignitaries will be attending. Event duration: one hour.

This year the New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony honors seven Empire State firefighters who gave their lives in the line of duty in 2006. In addition, three firefighters who were lost in 2007 will be honored. The ceremony will also recognize two firefighters who lost their lives in years past and whose names are now being added to the Fallen Firefighters Memorial Wall. We eulogize their courage and valor.

A ceremony has been conducted annually since 1998 commemorating the firefighters who have died in the line of duty. The New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial, located at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, includes a sculpture and memorial wall inscribed with the names of firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
