ALBANY, NY (10/10/2007; 0936)(readMedia)-- New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Pete Grannis, will join Region 6 Director Judy Drabicki, state and local officials, Thursday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. to officially open the new Lampson Falls universally accessible hiking trail, in Clare, St. Lawrence County. The 2,900-ft path will take users to the 100-foot-vertical-drop falls.

Commissioner Grannis will acknowledge the DEC region 6 staff for their efforts in completing more than 20 accessible outdoor recreation sites all around the North Country as part of his recognition of National Disability Awareness Month.

Directions: Lampson Falls accessible hiking trail is located on the west side of St. Lawrence County Route 27. If traveling north, it is approximately 4 miles north of the hamlet of Degrasse. If traveling south out of Canton, it is approximately 5 miles south of County Route 24.
