Labor Department To Announce $2 Million Investment In Youth Across The State
ALBANY, NY (05/06/2008; 1100)(readMedia)-- State Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith will be holding a press conference with Albany Mayor Gerald Jennings and Albany County Executive Michael Breslin to announce $2 million to serve more than 1,800 youth across New York State though internship programs.
The role that internships play in the workplace will also be transformed as part of this endeavor. Instead of the typical “get my coffee” internship experience, internships will instead provide a more meaningful segue for youth to the world of work here in New York.
In the Capital Region, $200,000 will serve 50 youth under this initiative.
