ALBANY, NY (07/31/2008; 1602)(readMedia)-- New York forest rangers, Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) personnel and other trained wildland firefighting volunteers are joining the effort to combat ongoing wildfires in northern California. They are departing Friday.

There will be a media opportunity to speak to the 20-member crew at the DEC staging area:

Saratoga Springs Tree Nursery and Fire Cache

Rt. 50 (South of Spa State Park)

Saratoga Springs, NY

The crew will likely be stationed in northern California for two weeks, with specific fire assignments to be determined upon arrival. A list of the DEC crew will be available Friday.
