ALBANY, NY (06/20/2008; 1322)(readMedia)-- Barack Obama's decision to reverse his previous public statements and opt out of the public financing system speaks volumes about his true intentions and will be a defining issue in this campaign.

Words matter, but Presidents are judged by the public and history based on their actions. The general public is now seeing a routine that is all too familiar to many Democrats from the primary: Barack Obama speaks in high ideals, yet acts with the basest of political motives.

Of equal concern, Senator Obama's decision to attack Senator McCain and the very system he previously supported demonstrates the kind of mudslinging politics that Americans have been crying out against.

Barack Obama's decision undermines the very foundation of his purported campaign for change.

America needs a President with character who will follow through on their commitments and honor their pledges. No one stands for that kind of straight talking integrity in the face of opposition like John McCain.
