NAMI-NYS Names Executive Director

ALBANY, NY (09/28/2007; 1106)(readMedia)-- The National Alliance on Mental Illness of New York State (NAMI-NYS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Trix Niernberger of Petersburgh, New York, as Executive Director.

Ms. Niernberger is an executive with extensive experience in non-profit organizational management, partnership development, government relations, communications and winning grants. Throughout her professional and volunteer career, she has demonstrated a commitment to serving vulnerable populations.

Ms. Niernberger has led three other non-profit corporations, held jobs in Indiana and Kansas state governments, and served as a consultant for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She is a board member of Women in Development of Northeastern New York.

NAMI-NYS is a grassroots organization providing education, support and advocacy for persons with serious mental illness and their families. Ms. Niernberger’s family experiences with mental illness have shaped her resolve to help remove the stigma associated with mental illness.
